11 June 1978: On passage from Timaru (New Zealand) to Nuku'alofa (Tonga) with a cargo of frozen meat, fire broke out aboard about 11 mile North North West of Banks Peninsula.

For those who do not have the Marine News, KEMPHAAN was finally sank by Rocket and Bomb fire from eight Skyhawk aircraft of the No. 75 Squadron at Ohakea on 17th June 1978 in position 43.15 S 173.46 E.
